LETTERPRESS BABY CARDS – NOW IN STOCK

these letterpress baby cards are just off our press and we are thrilled with them. we decided to create two different cards for a baby boy or a baby girl. These cards are hand-fed one by one onto our new edition to the studio, the Golding Jobber printing press (from 1886). We used one of our in-house papers, the florescent white cotton lettra 300 g/m² from neenah papers. the cards are now available for purchase on our kikisoso shop

LETTERPRESS KÖLN – VISITENKARTEN (100% BAUMWOLLE)

SCHNURSTRAX STRICKEN BUSINESS CARDS
here is one of our latest letterpress köln hand printed business cards. the project entailed the layout design and print for Beate R. the proprietor of the wool shop Schnurstrax Stricken situated in the Bayenthal area of Köln. Beate wanted something different, that you could feel with a haptic quality related to, and to communicate her business. Our thick and fluffy 100% cotton lettra paper was just the right thing.

LETTERPRESS KÖLN

Settling on a 2 colour / 2 sided print, we then created a new layout for the cards, allowing the wool ball to unravel and stretch nicely across to the second side of the card and spelling out the web address. It also allowed for a nice arrangement when displaying the cards together.

We are almost as thrilled as Beate with the outcome. To put it in her own words, “I like them so much, I don’ want to give them away”. A nice complement for our work 😉

OUR ACHILL ISLAND ADVENTURE

At Dookinella Beach on Achill Island. They say it in stone.

At Dookinella Beach on Achill Island. They say it in stone.

So, now it begins, back to the grind after our  fantastic Achill Island Adventure.  Last month we were frantically busy, getting our design and print projects finished for their deadlines and securing a space for our planned and long awaited two week holiday to the west coast of Ireland. And what a two weeks it was. Achill Island in County Mayo provided us with exactly what we needed, the remoteness, culture, and on this occasion, great weather. Our Irish Island adventure came to an end last weekend when we flew back from Knock Airport to Düsseldorf, but we still have a head and an SD Card full of memories that we would like to share.

We are no strangers to the island and have many friends and acquaintances to keep us up-to-date with the island’s news. For example, on arrival, our holiday cottage was not prepared and we were happy to stay once more with our friends Elizabeth and John Barrett in the Keel village for a few nights. Elizabeth and John run the Bervie guesthouse which is situated right on the end of keel beach and it really is a delight from the minute you arrive till the moment you leave.

Saying goodbye to Elizabeth & John at their wonderful Bervie guesthouse.

Like every other guest, we made much use of their well stocked reading room/sitting room, reading up on the islands history and the many notable people who had Achill Island Adventure of their own. The Irish painter Paul Henry, Nobel Prize winning author, Heinrich Böll, Novelist Graham Greene and American Painter Robert Henri have all spend considerable time on the island. As fans of Paul Henry’s Achill landscapes and seascapes we were also very happy to discover the work of Robert Henri, who focused on portraits of the Achill children between 1913 and 1924. A few examples below.

JAKOB & ESTHER PRINTING THE FIRST LETTERPRESS WEDDING INVITATIONS

Print_Own_Letterpress_Invitations

After working closely with Jakob and Esther on their letterpress wedding invitations we asked them to come along to the studio as we were ready to print the first colour. Jakob and Esther joined us as I just finished setting up and inking the disk on our Rodi press (Our 1886 Golding Official Press) ready for the first colour print of their wedding invitations. We had suggested they came by in order to print the first invitation themselves and they were thrilled to do so. After a toast and a bit more fiddling with the rollers on the Press we were ready to go. Here are a few pictures of the printing and the finished product that Esther collected a few days later.

this was the first round of sketches of the couple and the general idea of the banner. It was a little tricky to get Esther just right so that she was recognizable, but we got there in the end which you can see below.

esther & jackos’ invitations were a bespoke design and we’re almost as pleased with the outcome as they are. although custom/bespoke design is a large part of what samay and I do here at kikisoso, we are currently working on a range of wedding invitation sets which are based on a customizable templates. these will allow you the option to choose colours, fonts and papers according to your personal preference. there is a large selection of papers available for your invitations and we can order almost any paper of your choice if you have a very special requirement.
